The Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study
RESEARCH WITH HEART.
WELCOME! For over 30 years ARIC participants provide healthcare data to inform disease prevention.
ARIC Visit 9 began in June 2021 and will continue into 2022!
We will be contacting you soon about COVID-safe visits.
While 2021 visits are limited by COVID, we hope to be able to talk without masks and get back to normal in 2022.
Stay safe and healthy!
ARIC study participants joined the study in 1986-1989 at four sites around the country, including Hagerstown, MD. Participants were age 45-65 years when they joined and approximately 90% of living participants continue to contribute. ARIC research is world-leading and the legacy includes a specimen bank with 2+ Million vials. With continued participation in ARIC, we will describe the full transition from midlife to age 100+ and glean clues for improving the health of future generations.
Comstock Center staff and Director, Dr. Josef Coresh, are excited to see participants back in the clinic after the pandemic shutdown. Joe and staff braved the chilly weather in November 2021 to take the annual Center photograph!
